The White Sox got their leadoff hitter on for the third time in five innings, when Tyler Saladino singled. He stole second with Adam Eaton at the plate. Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez walked Eaton, to put two on with nobody out — to start the third trip through the batting order, which has proven difficult for Sanchez this season. With Tim Anderson at the plate, Sanchez drew Saladino into a run-down, but nearly allowed him to reach third on a bad toss to Andrew Romine at third base. Anderson popped out to McCann in foul territory for the second out.
