Live Tigers blog: Top 4th: JV strands another double

The Tigers won their second straight game, Tuesday, 4-2 over the Mariners.

Mike Aviles (2-for-4) hit the go-ahead infield single for the Tigers in the bottom of the eighth, before James McCann hit a sacrifice fly increasing their lead. The Mariners attempted a rally in the top of the ninth, putting runners at the corners with two outs, but closer Francisco Rodriguez quashed it, earning the save.

Justin Verlander started for the Tigers, going seven innings and allowing two runs on six hits, while striking out five and walking one.

James Paxton started for the Mariners.
