Top 2nd: JV works quickly

Tigers starter Justin Verlander worked quickly in the top of the second inning, setting the Mariners down in order. He got Kyle Seager to fly out, before striking out Adam Lind. M's catcher Chris Iannetta -- who spoiled Verlander's no-hit bid as a Los Angeles Angel last August -- fouled out to first baseman Miguel Cabrera to end the half inning. Going to the bottom of the second, the game remains scoreless.

Bottom 1st: Kinsler reaches, stays put

After an error from Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager allowed leadoff hitter Ian Kinsler to reach base, the Tigers were unable to take advantage of the miscue, or of Mariners pitcher James Paxton.
