The maddening trend of poor play continued as Tigers centerfielder Cameron Maybin appeared to lose a ball in the sun, which allowed Francisco Lindor (.301) to reach on a double. It was a fly ball to the warning track with two outs in the inning.
But Tigers starter Michael Fulmer ended the inning by inducing a ground out from Mike Napoli (.241).
The Indians' Carlos Santana (.248) grounded out and Jason Kipnis (.267) lined out to start the game.
Fulmer has allowed one run or less in each of his past eight starts. That's the longest streak by a Detroit starting pitcher since at least 1913
Top 1: Quick inning for Tomlin
Cleveland starter Josh Tomlin used his cutter to strike out Ian Kinsler (0-for-7 in the series) and needed one pitch to retire Cameron Maybin (groundout).
