Live Tigers blog: Boyd, Upton power Tigers to win

FINAL: TIGERS 1, TWINS 0

A second inning solo home run from Justin Upton proved to be all the Tigers needed as they escaped with a 1-0 win over the Twins in the first of a three-game series with their division rivals.

Matt Boyd gave the Tigers six strong innings and the Tigers bullpen was perfect. In fact, Tigers pitching recorded 14 straight outs before a one-out walk in the ninth inning.

In the ninth, Francisco Rodriguez earned his 26th save of the season. After Joe Mauer grounded out to first, Rodriguez issued a one-out walk to Miguel Sano.
