A half-inning after the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the third, the Braves acted as if they might knot Saturday night's score at Turner Field.
Dansby Swanson lashed a one-out single to left that became a double when Justin Upton was a tad late getting to it, and Swanson soon was at third following Adam Blair's sacrifice bunt.
Zimmermann, though, coaxed Ender Inciarte into a ground-out to Miguel Cabrera at first and the Tigers remained in the thinnest of leads as they chased their fourth consecutive victory.
