It was just four short summers ago when many people thought Justin Verlander was done.
In 2015, he went just 5-8 and made just 20 starts that season. It seemed the core injury which sapped Verlander of his velocity would be what pulled the All-Star pitcher down the Earth for good.
But he bounced back in 2016 and finished second – by one vote – for the Cy Young Award.
