Jose Feliciano returns as Tigers honor 1968 World Series champions

It's not just the ballplayers who are coming back.

So is Jose Feliciano.

Feliciano, the Latin recording artist, is scheduled to sing the national anthem before Saturday's Tigers-Cardinals game at Comerica Park, as the 1968 World Series-champion Tigers are honored in a weekend-long celebration.

Feliciano, hand-picked by Ernie Harwell, famously sang an alternate version of the national anthem before Game 5 of the 1968 World Series at Tiger Stadium. The rendition was panned at the time, but since has been celebrated.

The Tigers will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the franchise's third World Series title during a pregame ceremony Saturday, set to start at 5:30 p.
