Joey Wentz deals, but Tigers' offense dries up in shutout loss to Twins

Minneapolis — The Tigers came into the game Saturday having scored at least five runs in six straight games.

Lefty starter Joey Wentz might’ve wished they saved him a couple.

With his start sandwiched between two bullpen games, Wentz went six strong innings. He didn’t allow a base runner until the fifth and posted a career-best nine strikeouts.

As much as he helped ease some of the stress on a weary bullpen, it wasn’t enough to win the game.

The Minnesota Twins, using six different relievers, blanked the Tigers, 2-0, at Target Field.
