Jim Leyland knows Detroit Tigers' relationship with fans on thin ice

The last loss hurt the most. And still hurts for Jim Leyland.

Not all the time, of course. Not even most of the time.

How could it? He showed up at Comerica Park on Saturday to throw out the first pitch wearing candy-apple green shorts.

So, life is good. It’s just a tad, well, incomplete, at least when Leyland looks back on his eight-year run in Detroit.

For the Tigers’ former manager, it comes back to that final loss in Boston in the American League Championship Series in 2013.

“That one hurt,” he said.
