Javier Báez back in lineup for Detroit Tigers: 'I'm going to be the same guy'

NEW YORK — Detroit Tigers shortstop Javier Báez returned to the starting lineup Friday for the first of three games against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

The 29-year-old missed the past two games in hope of physical and mental reboots. With Báez watching from the bench, the Tigers won both games against the Minnesota Twins at Comerica Park to take four of five in the series.

Báez, a two-time All-Star, is hitting .197 with three home runs in 40 games.

"I just got to (expletive) go out there and play hard," Báez said before Friday's game.
