DETROIT -- Mike Gerber's younger brother David was supposed to be in Iowa for a game with the Class Clinton LumberKings tonight.
Instead, he booked a flight to Detroit for an impromptu Gerber family reunion.
About a dozen family members will be at Comerica Park on Friday hoping to see Mike Gerber's Major League debut with the Detroit Tigers. It's a one-day-only event. Gerber is the 26th man on the roster and will be returned to Triple-A Toledo after the second game.
But that doesn't make it any less special for Gerber or his family.
"It will be a long day, but a really fun one," he said.
