LAKELAND, Fla. — It felt like I was chasing a ghost.
Or a myth.
“Is Franklin Perez here?” I asked a member of the Detroit Tigers organization.
“Yeah, he’s right there,” the person said, pointing to a group of players.
I squinted.
There were dozens of players warming up on a back field Tuesday morning — the day Tigers pitchers and catchers reported to spring training.
“The one in back,” somebody said.
