If Christin Stewart's season is done, he's made solid first impression

MILWAUKEE -- Detroit Tigers outfielder Christin Stewart will go into his rookie season in 2019 not feeling like a rookie.

Stewart, suffering from a mild abdominal strain, won't play Friday night when the Tigers open a three-game series against the Brewers at Miller Park.

Manager Ron Gardenhire said Stewart was unlikely to play on Saturday or Sunday, the season finale.

If this is it, Stewart will finish 2018 with a .267 average, a double, a triple and two home runs in 72 at-bats. He'll arrive in Lakeland, Fla., as the overwhelming favorite to be the Tigers' starting left fielder in 2019.
