The Detroit Tigers got back into the win column in epic fashion Monday night, thrashing the visiting Boston Red Sox, 14-2, to take the first of the three-game weekday series. A nine-run third inning outburst was more than enough for the home team to cruise to victory.
The triumph kept AJ Hinch and Co. at the top of the standings in the American League overall as well as their 2.5-game lead in the Central Division. The Los Angeles Dodgers hold a half-game lead over the Olde English D overall, with the New York Mets tied with the Tigers record-wise.
