From bad to worse: Fulmer goes on the DL with an oblique strain

Detroit — The question was asked of manager Ron Gardenhire in his office before the game Friday: Did everybody make it back from the All-Star break healthy and ready to go?

His answer was yes.

Well, not quite.

Two hours later, the Tigers announced that starting pitcher Michael Fulmer was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left oblique strain. Reliever Victor Alcantara was called up from Toledo.

Fulmer sustained the injury earlier Friday during a bullpen session. He also threw some over the break.

Fulmer last pitched in Houston on Saturday.
