Former Tigers aces struggle in MLB postseason

Two seasons ago, in 2014, the Detroit Tigers had a starting rotation that included these pitchers: Right-handers Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer and Rick Porcello, and lefty David Price.

That rotation of Cy Young Award candidates has since dissolved into Verlander, righty Jordan Zimmermann and a trio of young and promising arms.

Before the 2015 season, Porcello was traded to the Boston Red Sox for Yoenis Cespedes and righty reliever Alex Wilson. Scherzer signed a seven-year, $210-million contract with the Washington Nationals. Last off-season, after the Tigers dealt him for two of those young and promising arms at the trade deadline, Price signed a seven-year, $217-million contract with the Red Sox.
