SEATTLE -- Seattle's Jean Segura had a solo homer and an RBI triple in the first two innings and James Paxton pitched a complete game as the Mariners defeated the Detroit Tigers, 7-2, at Safeco Field on Saturday.
Detroit starter Mike Fiers got hit hard early, surrendering homers to Segura in the first and Ben Gamel in the second. Segura's RBI triple later in the second gave the Mariners a little breathing room.
Fiers (4-3) went five innings, giving up four runs on six hits and a walk.
