Dillon Dingler had no clue.
The Ohio State junior knew the Detroit Tigers were in the mix to take him with the first pick of Day 2 of the MLB draft — a couple of text messages from his friends offered a clue as to what was about to happen — but then he saw the announcement on television.
“I’m super excited,” Dingler said on a video conference later in the day.
