The slightly worrisome consensus among insiders is trending toward the Tigers not being major players at the trade deadline, instead sticking to their core guys and acquiring a few bullpen arms. But fans would love nothing more than to see Eugenio Suárez come back to Detroit.
Suárez makes sense for the Tigers in a lot of ways. The Diamondbacks have already paid him the majority of the $15 million he's making this year — the last in an extension he earned when he was with the Reds — and he'd temporarily fill the hole at third base.
