Dream World Series was worth $200 -- but no ring -- for this 1968 Tiger

This is part of an occasional series looking back at the 1968 World Series.

Dave Campbell's reality never quite lived up to the dream.

The former ESPN baseball analyst was born in Manistee, went to high school at Lansing Sexton and helped lead the University of Michigan to the 1962 national championship.

"I had a chance to sign with Milwaukee and a chance to sign with Boston, but I wanted to sign with Detroit," Campbell said. "It was always the dream. For so many kids in Michigan, it was the dream.
