Detroit Tigers' Zack Godley working on fastball with his new team and his old boots

LAKELAND, Fla. — When it comes to Detroit Tigers right-hander Zack Godley, you have to start with the cowboy boots.

The well-worn pair of Twisted X square-toed boots stand tall at his locker in the clubhouse at Joker Marchant Stadium. They’re hard to miss not only because they feature an eye-catching barbed-wire design but because they are, well, boots.

Baseball players use so many sneakers that Foot Locker could open a small store inside each team’s clubhouse. But Godley knows what he likes and what makes him comfortable.
