The Detroit Tigers sent off veteran Victor Martinez in fitting fashion. The 16-year veteran had stated that he wished his final game to at Comerica Park. With Saturday being the final home game, the Tigers honored Martinez before the game. He then got a single in his first at-bat. With that, the Tigers had Ronny Rodriguez pinch-run and like that V-Mart’s career was over.
The Tigers also won Victor Martinez’s final game and avoided losing one-hundred games this season. Anthony Fenech writes that the win was fitting as V-Mart finished his career with over 2,000 hits.
