Over the past few days, the Pirates have unofficially joined the Tigers as one of baseball’s rebuilding teams, going the way general manager Al Avila did last season and the Marlins’ new ownership did earlier this off-season. They’ve joined the bunch by parting with a pair of productive players, beginning with right-hander Gerrit Cole over the weekend and former All-Star outfielder Andrew McCutchen on Monday.
