Detroit Tigers takeaways from comeback win over Kansas City Royals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Detroit Tigers’ bats came to life late Monday night, scoring three times in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the Kansas City Royals, 5-4.

Against Royals closer Brandon Maurer, the Tigers opened the inning with two hits: Jeimer Candelario singled and Victor Martinez doubled.

After a pitching change, Jim Adduci tied the game with a two-run double and James McCann hit a go-ahead double.

Francisco Liriano was erratic, pitching only 4u2153 innings, and the Tigers mustered three hits against right-hander Heath Fillmyer.

Pitching in front of a Los Angeles Dodgers scout, Shane Greene picked up his 20th save.
