Three observations from Day 4 of the Detroit Tigers' summer camp at Comerica Park on Monday:
Casey Mize on the mound
Mize, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft and one of the team’s top prospects, threw two innings of controlled live batting practice off the Comerica Park mound. Mize looked better in his opening frame than the second, but fine, overall. He alternated innings with righty Beau Burrows. Mize’s day ended by breaking a pair of bats with likely his cutter: Both outfielder Jorge Bonifacio and catcher Eric Haase were eaten up.
