Detroit Tigers prospect A.J. Achter aching to live major league dream

LAKELAND, Fla. – Standing in the Tigers clubhouse in Tiger Town, wearing a Tigers cap, A.J. Achter looked around and smiled like a kid.

A kid who used to sit in the stands and watch this team play.

“This is the team I grew up rooting for,” said Achter, a relief pitcher who is fighting for a roster spot. “It’s pretty dang cool, just putting on the uniform.”

Achter, 28, owns a house in Brighton. His wife, Kaiti, is a Michigan State grad and former Detroit Pride cheerleader who is taking nursing classes at Eastern Michigan.
