Detroit Tigers outfielder Robbie Grossman exited Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox before the seventh inning with right groin tightness, manager A.J. Hinch said.
The severity of his injury is unclear, though the Tigers fear he could have a strain, which would likely send him to the injured list.
Grossman, 32, is undergoing further evaluations.
He sustained the injury in the fifth inning. After working a six-pitch walk to chase Red Sox starter Rich Hill, Grossman was thrown out retreating to first base on Jonathan Schoop's popout in foul territory.
