MINNEAPOLIS — It had been nearly two years since Daniel Norris last made it into the seventh inning, and in the starts that led up to Sunday afternoon’s series finale against the Minnesota Twins, he was itching for it.
Against the Phillies on May 1, five innings. Against the Angels on Tuesday, the same. In both outings, Norris had more left in the tank.
On Sunday afternoon, Norris was going to make it.
The Detroit Tigers’ left-hander pitched his best game of the season, allowing two runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out five batters, walked one, and the Tigers split a four-game series against the team with the best winning percentage in baseball.
