As the pains of a rebuild continue to shoot through the Detroit Tigers fan base and organization, here's a bit of encouraging news for the minor league system.
MLBPipeline.com has re-ranked the top 15 farm systems in baseball and the Tigers have made a nice jump up.
to start the season, the Tigers were ranked 10th in the majors. But now, Tuesday's rankings have Detroit coming in sixth, and No. 2 in the American League.
"Detroit's last four first-rounders ((Casey) Mize, (Matt) Manning, (Riley) Greene, right-hander Alex Faedo) look extremely promising, and the Justin Verlander trade with Houston two years ago could yield three key pieces in right-hander Franklin Perez, catcher Jake Rogers and outfielder Daz Cameron," wrote MLBPipeline's Jim Callis.
