The Detroit Tigers have traded starting pitcher Mike Fiers to the Oakland Athletics. The A’s made the move to boost their starting rotation as they look to make a deep playoff run. The Tigers will get two players-to-be-named-later and cash considerations from Oakland.
The trade helped the A’s rise in the Athletics MLB Power Rankings (subscription required). They’ve moved up from ninth to sixth, and the Athletic notes that not many people expected the As’ to do as well as they have been this season.
