Detroit Tigers' Miguel Cabrera ties Lou Gehrig for hits

Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera, going through a power slump this season, has taken heat from fans after blaming his decline, in part, on a lack of power hitters in the team’s lineup.

In Friday night’s 7-2 loss to the Oakland Athletics, Cabrera looked like he could be returning to form — though he’s stuck on one home run in 155 at-bats.

Among his two hits at Comerica Park against the A’s, raising his average to .290, Cabrera’s RBI double in the ninth was career hit No. 2,721, tying him with Lou Gehrig for 63rd all-time in MLB history.
