Miguel Cabrera will not face Justin Verlander tonight.
Cabrera is not in Wednesday night’s Detroit Tigers starting lineup against the Astros. He left Tuesday night’s game with right knee discomfort, manager Ron Gardenhire said.
Cabrera’s removal was deemed precautionary because of the blowout nature of the 11-4 loss.
Cabrera has never faced Verlander in a regular season game: He was ruled out for the season with a ruptured left biceps in early June, weeks before the Tigers’ first meeting with the Astros.
