As Michael Fulmer arrived at Comerica Park on Friday afternoon, the chances of him being dealt before the trade deadline could have been characterized as slim to none.
The Detroit Tigers have a high price tag on Fulmer. His statistics have slipped this season. Any conversations interested teams had about Fulmer almost certainly included questions about his future health. He was coming off a season-worst start against the Astros.
Still, there remained some chance Fulmer could get dealt.
But after Fulmer felt a “pinch” in his left side during a bullpen session, slim left the building.
