Detroit Tigers Matthew Boyd, Daniel Norris, Blaine Hardy avoid arbitration

As Friday’s 1 p.m. deadline for teams and players to exchange salary arbitration figures passed, the Detroit Tigers had four of their six arbitration-eligible players under contract.

According to multiple persons with knowledge of the situation, closer Shane Greene and left-handers Matthew Boyd Blaine Hardy and Daniel Norris have agreed to one-year contracts, avoiding an arbitration hearing next month.

Greene signed for $4 million, Boyd for $2.6 million and Norris signed for $1.275 million, including incentives based on games started. Hardy’s salary is not known.

Though the deadline to exchange numbers has passed, the Tigers will likely continue to work on negotiating deals throughout the day, with the hopes of extending their streak of 18 years without attending an arbitration hearing.
