MINNEAPOLIS — An hour before Tuesday night’s series opener,Detroit Tigers general manager Al Avila emerged from the visitor’s dugout at Target Field.
On a seasonably cool day, the Tigers were taking their second round of batting practice.
Avila, the team’s third-year GM, headed straight to the batting cage, where most of the coaching staff was. One-by-one, Avila greeted them. Handshakes, slaps on the back, laughs.
