Detroit Tigers make 6 more cuts, promote Arcenio Leon

LAKELAND, Fla. -- There was no morning update on the status of injured outfielder J.D. Martinez, but the Detroit Tigers made another round of cuts prior to today’s exhibition against the New York Mets at Joker Marchant Stadium (1 p.m.).

Right-handed pitcher Sandy Baez was optioned to Class A Lakeland, and right-handed pitcher Warwick Saupold was optioned to Triple-A Toledo.

The Tigers also reassigned four players to minor league camp: infielder/outfielder Brett Pill and right-handed pitchers A.J. Achter, William Cuevas and Dustin Molleken.

And the Tigers added right-handed pitcher Arcenio Leon to major league camp as a nonroster invitee.
