Detroit Tigers' Jose Iglesias injured on walk-off error in loss

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Jose Iglesias was spotted inside the visiting clubhouse at Tropicana Field at 11:12 p.m. on Wednesday night, some 15 minutes after he woozily walked off the playing field following the most unlikely of endings in the Tigers’ 8-7 loss to the Rays.

Still in his uniform, he sat on a couch with a bloody elbow and was first consoled by closer Francisco Rodriguez, whose second blown save of the season came in small part because of Iglesias’ game-ending error.

On the play, a tailor-made double play ball, Iglesias stumbled over second base, threw wide of first base – allowing the game-winning run to score – before taking a knee to the jaw from Rays second baseman Brad Miller.
