Detroit Tigers' Jeimer Candelario 'a pain' against Boston's Chris Sale

Detroit Tigers third baseman Jeimer Candelario earned some respect, even if he didn’t get a hit against Boston Red Sox lefty Chris Sale.

Sale said Candelario was a “pain” in what was an otherwise dominant performance over six shutout innings against the Tigers on Sunday.

Candelario challenged Sale in a 12-pitch at-bat in the second inning and battled back from an 0-2 count in a nine-pitch battle in the fourth inning. Candelario grounded out to third base both times.

“I want to be in that position to battle all the time and not be an easy out,” Candelario said.
