Detroit Tigers in winter leagues: Jeimer Candelario debuts soon, Sergio Alcantara thriving

As if Detroit Tigers third baseman Jeimer Candelario didn't do enough in the 2020 season, he's back for more baseball.

Candelario was added to the active roster for Toros del Este in the Dominican Winter League on Monday. He is expected to make his debut this week.

In November, the 27-year-old was named 2020 Tiger of the Year. To secure the award, Candelario finished last season with a .297 batting average, 11 doubles, three triples, seven home runs and 29 RBIs in 52 games.

It is unclear if Candelario will play third base or first base for Toros del Este, but the ballclub has him listed as a third baseman for now.
