Detroit Tigers general manager Al Avila said he saw no reason to give manager Brad Ausmus a multiyear contract.
Avila explained during a teleconference today that it wasn’t necessary to do anything other than exercise the club’s one-year option on Ausmus for 2017. Avila also said there was no reason to exercise the option before the Tigers' season ended over the weekend.
“I personally like the year-to-year (setup) at this time,” Avila said. “At this time, the club itself can change from year to year, and things can change from year to year.
