Auburn right-handed pitcher Casey Mize emerged as the early favorite to be chosen No. 1 overall by the Detroit Tigers in the MLB draft in June. But he lost a pitching duel against Florida right-hander Brady Singer on Thursday in front of a plethora of MLB scouts and front office personnel, including Tigers owner Chris Ilitch and general manager Al Avila.
