Casey Mize’s family sent him socially distanced debut greetings

There has never been a stranger time for an MLB rookie to make their major league debut. We’re already witnessing history in Wednesday’s Tigers/White Sox game, as it is only the 13th time in major league history two prospect pitchers are making their debut against one another (excluding September call ups).

The Tigers obviously know the excitement for Casey Mize’s big league debut is huge, they’ve created hype videos, people were sharing images of Mize watching Tarik Skubal’s Tuesday debut, and overall Tigers fans are just ready to see what their future looks like.

Typically when a player makes their major league debut, their family are in the stands, sharing polite and nervous conversation with Johnny Kane while they wait breathlessly for the first MLB hit, or strikeout, depending on which side of the bag their son is on.
