LAKELAND, Fla. -- On a day when the Detroit Tigers’ Opening Day roster seemed to clear up with a number of cuts, a “cloak and dagger” pregame media session with manager Brad Ausmus has put the team’s starting rotation under cloud cover.
Ausmus hasn’t announced the starters for the second and third games of the season against the Chicago White Sox, widely believed to be right-hander Jordan Zimmermann and lefty Daniel Norris. For the past two days, Ausmus has indicated that those two starters were decided upon and that he was holding off on an announcement so he could tell the pitchers first.
