Aviles comes through as Tigers top Mariners 4-2

Mike Aviles came through with the big hit in the eighth inning.

Aviles’ infield single with the bases loaded proved to be the difference on Tuesday night, and the Detroit Tigers added another run to beat the Seattle Mariners 4-2 at Comerica Park.

With one out in the eighth, Victor Martinez singled to left and went to third on a double to center by Nick Castellanos.

The Tigers inserted Andrew Romine as a pinch runner for Martinez and the Mariners intentionally walked Justin Upton to load the bases. Aviles singled on a soft grounder toward first, allowing Romine to score, breaking the tie.
