DETROIT -- The Tigers went into the non-waiver Trade Deadline looking to deal, and they had veterans to offer. So why did they end up with Leonys Martin as their lone trade?
The answer, general manager Al Avila explained, was in what teams were offering in return, and the other options they had for shopping.
"Quite frankly, I had some doubts that I would be able to trade Martin at the end, too," Avila said Tuesday, "because it did go down to later [in the] morning.
