As Ilitch Holdings begins manufacturing masks, some employees raise questions

The umbrella company that oversees the operations of the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, among other ventures, has launched a new initiative that it hopes will help the community: producing thousands of masks through the hands of its employees.

Ilitch Holdings Inc., which provides professional services to the businesses owned by the Ilitch family — including Olympia Entertainment, Olympia Development, Little Caesars Arena and the MotorCity Casino Hotel — began production Monday morning at a Little Caesars warehouse in Farmington Hills. According to the company, the employees will produce an estimated 60,000 masks per day during the COVID-19 pandemic.
