The Detroit Tigers dropped the first game of their series against the Los Angeles Angels by a 4-2 mark, giving former Tigers manager Brad Ausmus a win in his return to Comerica Park.
The Angels drew first blood on a David Fletcher RBI single in the third inning, adding two more in the same frame to jump out to a 3-0 lead. The Tigers offense would remain dormant for much of the first five innings, with them registering just one hit and two total baserunners.
The Tigers showed signs of life in the sixth inning, with a JaCoby Jones leadoff double sparking a bit of a rally.
