Alex Wilson says he’s ready after hitless rehab appearance

TOLEDO — Alex Wilson has had line drives hit back at him on rehab assignments in past years and been left ducking for cover. His third pitch Tuesday night for the Mud Hens in his first rehab appearance wasn’t nearly as harrowing, but it was a high chopper that immediately put his injured left foot to the rest.

Wilson, who ruptured the plantar fascia in the foot a month ago, bounced off the mound, jumped for the grab, then turned and fired to first for the out. It was one of four outs he recorded in a hitless appearance, but given his injury, it was the biggest play of the night for him.
