DETROIT -- After an unplanned mid-April vacation, the Detroit Tigers looked ready to play.
Francisco Liriano and four relievers combined for 12 strikeouts as the Tigers beat the Baltimore Orioles 4-2 in the series opener Tuesday night at Comerica Park.
It was the Tigers' first game since Friday after a series of rain-outs and snow-outs washed away their weekend series. The win was the Tigers' first since April 8 and broke a five-game losing streak.
Pitching in 37-degree temperatures, Liriano struck out seven in five innings. He's allowed two runs or fewer in all three of his starts this season.
